To study in the UK, all Pakistani students are required to apply for a “Student Visa”.

CAS: UK visa application process

A Student must have an unconditional offer from an institute registered as a licensed sponsor for UK visa application process. To prove this, the institute will send a reference number (called CAS) once they’ve accepted the student for the course. 

Requirement for CAS: 

1. A minimum deposit (starting from 1000 GBP to a full fee deposit);

2. Submission of financial statements (maintained as per point 2 below); and,

3. Passing the credibility interview conducted by the University.

Financial Statements:

The student needs to demonstrate a strong financial standing by submitting his/her bank statement and account maintenance letter (signed and stamped, and printed on the bank’s letterhead). 

As per the UKVI guidelines, the student will need to show the following as living expenditures: UK visa application process

1. 12006 GBP if studying in London; and

2. 9207 GBP if studying outside London.

The tuition fee payable to the University also needs to be maintained in the bank account.  

Example: If the student is living in London and the tuition fee which is payable by the student after making the initial deposit is 10,000 GBP; then the total amount that needs to be maintained in the account shall be 12006 GBP + 10,000 GBP making a total of 22,006 GBP. 

Students must have this money for at least 28 consecutive days in the bank account. 

3. English Language Requirement: English proficiency can either be proved in the form of IELTS or any internal/external test accepted by the University. Some universities also accept MOI letters from selected universities as a demonstration of the required English Language proficiency.

4. TB Certificate: Unfortunately, applicants from Pakistan need to furnish a TB certificate as part of their visa application. This TB certificate can only be acquired from IOM centres, located in Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and Mirpur.
