Pakistan in the amber list, Previously: The UK placed Pakistan on the Covid red list on 2 April 2021 as the Covid situation worsened. This meant that the travelers coming from a red-list country had to take covid-19 test before travel and then quarantine for 10 days in a managed hotel for £2,285 per person after arrival. 

Details: On 17 September UK government announced that Pakistan will come off the red list from September 22, 2021, at 4 am. Albeit good news, it comes with its own requirement.  

Rules for Travelers from Amber List Countries:

1. Take a coronavirus test before travel (irrespective of the vaccination status).

2. Take a COVID-19 test on or before day-2 after the arrival.

3. No requirement for quarantining in a government-designated hotel.

Vaccinations approved by the UK Government:

1. Moderna vaccine

2. Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine

3. Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine

4. Janssen vaccine (available later this year)

One can only enter the UK if fully vaccinated 14 whole days before arrival in England.  

What’s Next: 

From 4 October 2021, the rules will change from the red, amber, and green traffic light system to a single red list of countries. 

This means the fully vaccinated traveler must:  

1. book and pay for a post-arrival COVID-19 test;

2. complete the passenger locator form any time in the 48 hours before arrival; and

3. take the already booked COVID-19 test on or before day-2 of arrival.

One must be able to prove the vaccination status with a document issued by a national or state-level public health body. The document of proof should include:

1. forename and surname(s)

2. date of birth

3. vaccine brand and manufacturer

4. date of vaccination for every dose

5. country of vaccination and/or certificate issuer
